Mission
Founded in 2011 by ovarian cancer survivor Bridgette Eilers, Chemo Crew exists to provide hope and help to cancer patients and their families. Inspired by Bridgette’s own experience navigating cancer treatment, the organization was created to ensure that no one faces cancer without support, encouragement, and practical resources.
Chemo Crew began with a desire to offer compassion and care to individuals in deeply challenging seasons of life. As the organization has grown, it has embraced a diversity of backgrounds, beliefs, and motivations, united by a shared commitment to supporting those impacted by cancer. Today, Chemo Crew remains focused on what matters most: providing comfort, connection, and tangible support to patients and their loved ones.
Through close partnerships with hospitals and medical providers specializing in cancer care, Chemo Crew helps bridge the gap between patients and available resources. By offering practical tools, education, and encouragement, the organization empowers patients and families to navigate treatment with greater confidence and dignity.
Guided by the core values of compassion, encouragement, integrity, empowerment, and resourcefulness, Chemo Crew is supported by more than 100 dedicated volunteers and staff members—many of whom are cancer survivors—serving Stanislaus and San Joaquin counties. Chemo Crew’s vision is that by 2036, every cancer patient in these counties will receive support from The Chemo Crew.
Bridgette Eilers, Founder
Bridgette was inspired to begin providing the services her organization provides after facing her own battle with ovarian cancer and chemotherapy treatment. As she journeyed through the difficult process of chemotherapy, she discovered useful tools, elements of support from those around her, and resources within herself that she believed were essential to getting her through the process successfully.
Brittany Thayer, Executive Director
Brittany is a Leukemia Survivor and has a passion for serving cancer patients in the midst of their struggle. She served as a volunteer before being hired as the Crew Member Coordinator in 2016. Now as Executive Director she is responsible for working with the Board of Directors to develop, maintain and enhance the mission of Chemo Crew and current programs.
Rocio Ojeda-Barajas, Support Services Assistant

We are excited to welcome our newest team member Rocio Ojeda-Barajas, she is a cancer survivor. She was diagnosed with a Gynecological cancer in 2021. As a young mother of three boys it was hard for her and her family to deal with her illness. With the support that they received from their family, friends, running community, and their church helped Rocio stay motivated and strong to overcome her cancer. She is excited to be a part of the Chemo Crew team to help better serve the Latino community.
